چکیده

Among the methods to deal with optimization tasks, parallel metaheuristics have been used in many real-world and scientific applications to efficiently solve these kind of problems. This paper presents a novel Multi Improvement strategy for dealing with the Minimum Latency Problem (MLP), an extension the classic Traveling Salesman Problem. This strategy is embedded in a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) local search procedure, in order to take advantage of the highly parallel processors from this architecture. In order to explore multiple neighborhoods simultaneously in a CPU/GPU heterogenous and distributed environment, a variant of the classic Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND) is also proposed, named Distributed VND (DVND). The DVND was inspired by a randomized version of the VND (called RVND) and a comparison was made, achieving competitive results in terms of solution quality. The variant of the DVND using two processes succeeded in achieving superlinear speedups up to 2.85, demonstrating that the DVND scalability and capability to explore both GPUs and CPUs. Finally, experiments demonstrate that the Multi Improvement is capable of finding better quality solutions in shorter computational times, when compared the classic Best Improvement strategy, motivating Available online at www.sciencedirect.com Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics 58 (2017) 199–206 1571-0653/© 2017 Elsevier B.V. Winner Determination in Combinatorial Auctions using Hybrid Ant Colony Optimization and Multi-Neighborhood Local Search

A combinatorial auction is an auction where the bidders have the choice to bid on bundles of items. The WDP in combinatorial auctions is the problem of finding winning bids that maximize the auctioneer’s revenue under the constraint that each item can be allocated to at most one bidder. The WDP is known as an NP-hard problem with practical applications like electronic commerce, production manag...

A Two-Phase Hybrid Heuristic Method for a Multi-Depot Inventory-Routing Problem

In this study, a two phase hybrid heuristic approach was proposed to solve the multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem (MDMVIRP). Inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the major issues in the supply chain networks that arise in the context of vendor managed systems (VMI) The MDMVIRP combines inventory management and routing decision. We are given on input a fleet of homogeneous ...

Lot Streaming in No-wait Multi Product Flowshop Considering Sequence Dependent Setup Times and Position Based Learning Factors

This paper considers a no-wait multi product flowshop scheduling problem with sequence dependent setup times. Lot streaming divide the lots of products into portions called sublots in order to reduce the lead times and work-in-process, and increase the machine utilization rates. The objective is to minimize the makespan. To clarify the system, mathematical model of the problem is presented. Sin...

A Hybrid MOEA/D-TS for Solving Multi-Objective Problems

In many real-world applications, various optimization problems with conflicting objectives are very common. In this paper we employ Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition (MOEA/D), a newly developed method, beside Tabu Search (TS) accompaniment to achieve a new manner for solving multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs) with two or three conflicting objectives. This i...

Investigating Zone Pricing in a Location-Routing Problem Using a Variable Neighborhood Search Algorithm

In this paper, we assume a firm tries to determine the optimal price, vehicle route and location of the depot in each zone to maximise its profit. Therefore, in this paper zone pricing is studied which contributes to the literature of location-routing problems (LRP). Zone pricing is one of the most important pricing policies that are prevalently used by many companies. The proposed problem is v...
